Anambra calls for private partnership in rebuilding culture, tourism

Anambra State Government has called on private individuals and companies to engage in robust partnership so as to transform the tourism sector.

This was unveiled when the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Dr Ken Anierobi briefed newsmen in Awka on the state government’s plan to harness the tourism facilities in the state.

According to Dr Anierobi who said that the state had created an enabling environment that had been attracting investment in-flows into all sectors of the economy.

This also underscores the need to further project the tourist facilities in the global map.

We want to maximize the contributions of Ndi Anambra in The Diaspora in promoting the vision of Gov. Willie Obiano, geared toward making the state first choice investment destination and most preferred location to site new industries. He said…

He also said we have existing tourist sites that are not in use such that have not achieved their full potential. We will go into private partnership arrangement that will boost economic values for the facilities.

In terms of culture, we have a lot of cultural activities including festivals that we will upgrade and infuse modern ways its management, by bringing in sponsorship to aid its world-class standards.

The hospital industry is the most affected sector of the economy during the COVID-19 lockdowns. We will tap into the palliative measures that the Federal Government put in place to enable them flourish.

In promoting our culture, community involvement is fundamental because cultural activities belong to the people. They need support to restructure and boost their event. So we will acquire quality costumes for such festivals.

He ended his speech saying that we will find a way to harmonies Yam festivals (IWA JI), to standardise the process and achieve a common practice,’’ Dr Anierobi explained.
