Ebonyi State government has tasked heads of security agencies; police, DSS among others to clampdown on erring Herder’s who have allegedly refused to obey government directives and laws

The State Commissioner of Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution Mr Stanley Okoro

who stated this in Abakaliki  during an enlarged security meeting with herder’s noted that there have been serious high insecurity challenges in the nation, and as such Ebonyi state is preparing to forestall any breakdown of laws and order by the herders in the state.

 

He said government  has directed that there should be no grazing of cattle by minors.

 

“It is a business of the elders but the Minor shouldn’t be allowed to control the cows.

 

“It is the duty of the security agencies to implement it. They are to enforce the laws and orders of the state on them” he stated

 

Also speaking the state Commissioner of Police CP Aliyu Garba who warned farmers and herders to abide by the rules and laws guiding their operations, said that the Command will clamp down on erring herders who have allegedly refused to obey government directives and laws.

 

He said that  his men will not spare any person that will go contrary to this warning adding that the Command has been positioned for the task.

 

He noted that there is much insecurity as such, “it is important that we start early in Ebonyi to prevent what is happening in other states to happen here”.
